Robert Peter George, born on July 10, 1955, is an American legal scholar, political philosopher, and public intellectual. He holds the position of the sixth McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence at Princeton University where he is also the director of the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions. His academic work includes lectures on constitutional interpretation, civil liberties, philosophy of law, and political philosophy. George is a co-founder of the Witherspoon Institute and serves as its Herbert W. Vaughan senior fellow. He is also a senior fellow of the American Enterprise Institute and holds distinguished professorships at Pepperdine University, including the Ronald Reagan Honorary Distinguished Professor of Public Policy and the Nootbaar Honorary Distinguished Professor of Law. Additionally, he has served as a visiting professor at Harvard Law School.
