Rob Wright: podcast appearances and interviews

Rob Wright is a Canadian pastor affiliated with SunnyRidge Church. Born on March 12, 1954, he has also gained recognition as a musician and songwriter. Wright is known for his multifaceted career in the music industry, where he has played bass, been a lead vocalist, and performed as an occasional guitarist. He is a member of the progressive punk rock band Nomeansno and the pop punk band The Hanson Brothers, both of which feature his brother John. Additionally, Wright has created a solo project called Mr. Wrong, performing in an authoritarian priest outfit and featuring him singing and playing bass. He has collaborated with other artists such as Ford Pier and Itch, and has recorded with the instrumental progressive power-trio Removal under his Mr. Wrong persona. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Wright explored record production, working with underground punk groups in British Columbia, most notably the Neos. As a bassist, he employs a distinctive technique that incorporates frequencies typically associated with guitars, drawing inspiration from Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead for his amplification. His style has been influenced by jazz bassists like Jimmy Blanton and Paul Chambers. Wright’s fast-fretted, hard-picked playing is highly regarded by fellow musicians, including Mike Watt of The Minutemen. Aside from his musical pursuits, Wright co-operates the record label Wrong Records. He resides in Vancouver, British Columbia, and has two children.
