Robert James Gronkowski, born on May 14, 1989, is a former professional football tight end who played in the National Football League for 11 seasons. He spent nine seasons with the New England Patriots and concluded his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for two seasons. Regarded as one of the greatest tight ends of all time, Gronkowski is a four-time Super Bowl champion and has been recognized with numerous honors including five Pro Bowl selections, four first-team All-Pro selections, and inclusion in the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team and NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team.

Gronkowski played college football for the Arizona Wildcats, where he earned third-team All-American honors as a sophomore in 2008. Despite only two collegiate seasons, he set team records for his position with an 18.8 yards per reception average and 1,197 receiving yards. The New England Patriots drafted him in the second round of the 2010 NFL draft after he missed his junior year due to back surgery, and he quickly became a key contributor to the franchise’s successful run.

He was considered a complete tight end, excelling as both a receiver and a blocker, and set several NFL records. He became the first tight end to lead the league in receiving touchdowns with 17 in 2011. Gronkowski holds the Patriots franchise record for total receiving touchdowns with 79 and has notable achievements in Super Bowl history, with the most combined receptions and receiving yards by a tight end in Super Bowl games. He is also ranked first among tight ends in average yards per target and touchdowns per game.
