Ricky Wilson: podcast appearances and interviews

Ricky Wilson was an American musician and a founding member of the rock band the B-52s. Born in Athens, Georgia, he contributed to the band's distinctive sound through his use of unusual guitar tunings. Wilson was the brother of band member Cindy Wilson and played a key role in the band's formation, which occurred in 1976 after a spontaneous music session and a party gathering. His musical talents extended beyond the band, as he played guitar on the song 'Breakin' in My Heart' on Tom Verlaine's debut album. Wilson also appeared in a few films, including One Trick Pony, and was featured in various archives posthumously. Tragically, he died at the age of 32 from complications related to AIDS following the recording of the band's fourth studio album, Bouncing Off the Satellites. His death deeply affected the band, leading to a period of seclusion and limited promotional activity. Despite his early passing, Wilson’s influence in music has been recognized, with Rolling Stone ranking him as the 247th greatest guitarist of all time in 2023.
