Rick Young: podcast appearances and interviews

Rick Young was a prominent rodeo clown and bullfighter recognized for his extensive career spanning over five decades. Born in Houston, Texas, on March 3, 1934, he was raised on his family's Appaloosa horse ranch near Tickfaw, Louisiana. After graduating from Southeastern Louisiana University, Young began his rodeo career in 1959 and became known for his performances with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. Throughout his career, he worked as a bullfighter at major rodeo events including the 1974 National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In 1980, he was honored as the PRCA Clown of the Year. Young also participated in the National Finals Rodeo as the Coors Man in the Can in 1991, 1994, 1996, and 1997. His contributions to rodeo were recognized with his induction into the National Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2004 and the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in 2022. Rick Young retired in 2019 at the age of 85 and passed away on March 20, 2026, at the age of 92. He was also known by the nickname The Ragin' Cajun during his career.
