Richard Barnes, born on July 17, 1954, is an American college basketball coach currently serving as the head coach at the University of Tennessee. He has a long history of coaching at various institutions, including the University of Texas where he led the team from 1998 to 2015. During his tenure at Texas, Barnes guided the team to the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament in 16 of 17 seasons, with 14 consecutive appearances from 1999 to 2012.
