Richard Earl Thomas, born on June 13, 1951, is an American actor known for his roles in television and theater. He gained prominence for his portrayal of John-Boy Walton in the CBS drama series The Waltons, a role that earned him an Emmy Award as well as nominations for another Emmy and two Golden Globe Awards. Beyond this iconic part, Thomas starred as Bill Denbrough in the 1990 television miniseries adaptation of Stephen King's novel It. He also played Special Agent Frank Gaad on the FX series The Americans and has appeared in various other productions, including Netflix's Ozark.
