Richard Anthony Scolyer (16 December 1966 – 7 June 2026) was an Australian pathologist and melanoma researcher. He served as a senior staff specialist in tissue pathology and diagnostic oncology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and held the position of Conjoint Professor at the Sydney Medical School within the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney. Throughout his career, Scolyer contributed significantly to the field of pathology and cancer research. He was also known for his personal experience as a brain cancer patient, which informed his understanding of oncology and patient care. In 2024, he and Professor Georgina Long were recognized as Australians of the Year for their contributions to cancer research and medical practice.
