Richard Ford, born on February 16, 1944, is an American novelist and short story author known for his series featuring the character Frank Bascombe. His literary career includes the publication of his first collection of short stories, Rock Springs, in 1987. Ford gained significant recognition with his novel Independence Day, for which he received the Pulitzer Prize in 1996. His work has garnered international awards, including the Princess of Asturias Award in Spain in 2016 and the Park Kyong-ni Prize from South Korea in 2018.
