William Ray Norwood Jr., known professionally as Ray J, is an American R&B singer, rapper, songwriter, television presenter, and actor. Born in McComb, Mississippi, on January 17, 1981, and raised in Carson, California, he is the younger brother of singer and actress Brandy. Ray J's music career began with the release of his debut single "Let It Go" in 1997, which was part of the soundtrack for the film Set It Off and reached the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100. This song served as the lead single for his debut album, Everything You Want, which achieved placement on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. He subsequently signed with Atlantic Records, releasing his second album, This Ain't a Game, in 2002, which featured the charting single "Wait a Minute" featuring Lil' Kim. His 2005 single "One Wish" peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and preceded his third album, Raydiation, released in the same year. Ray J's career also includes acting and television presenting, with notable appearances such as his co-starring role in the adult film Kim Kardashian, Superstar, in 2007. His fourth album, All I Feel, was released in 2008 and included the hit single "Sexy Can I," which reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2013, he released the single "I Hit It First," which charted at number 51. Outside of music, Ray J has participated in reality television, notably competing in the nineteenth season of Celebrity Big Brother in 2017. He is also an entrepreneur, having launched the technology company Raytroniks in 2016 and the Raycon line of earbuds in 2017.
