Raoul Peck: podcast appearances and interviews

Raoul Peck is a Haitian filmmaker and director born on September 9, 1953. He is recognized for utilizing historical, political, and personal characters to explore and narrate societal issues and historical events. In addition to his filmmaking career, Peck served as Haiti's Minister of Culture from 1996 to September 1997. His 2016 film I Am Not Your Negro, which focuses on the life of James Baldwin and themes of race relations in the United States, was nominated for an Oscar in 2017 and received a César Award in France. Peck's work extends into documentary filmmaking; his HBO miniseries Exterminate All the Brutes, which premiered in 2021, was awarded a Peabody Award. He is the founder of Velvet Film, a production company operating in Paris, New York, and Port-au-Prince. Additionally, Peck established the El Dorado Forum in Port-au-Prince in 1995, a center dedicated to supporting the creativity and enrichment of artists.
