Raine Maida, born Michael Anthony Maida on February 18, 1970, is a Canadian musician best known as the lead vocalist and primary songwriter of the alternative rock band Our Lady Peace. He is recognized for his distinctive countertenor nasal falsetto singing voice and his cryptic, poetry-influenced lyrics. Maida occasionally performs on the acoustic guitar and has been the only original member of the band since guitarist Mike Turner's departure in 2001. In 2006, he launched a solo career, releasing his first album, The Hunters Lullaby, in 2007. He also took on the role of producer for Our Lady Peace's seventh studio album, Burn Burn, in 2009. Maida has been married to Canadian singer Chantal Kreviazuk since 1999, and they have three sons. Since 2003, he has actively engaged with charitable causes, notably War Child, and has publicly expressed criticism of the Iraq War and former U.S. President George W. Bush.
