Pierce Freelon: podcast appearances and interviews

Pierce Freelon is an American musician, educator, author, and politician. He is recognized as a Grammy-nominated family music artist and a former Durham City Council Member. Freelon is the founder of Blackspace, an Afrofuturist digital makerspace, and the co-founder of Beat Making Lab, an Emmy Award-winning PBS web-series. He also served as co-director, writer, and composer for The History of White People in America, a PBS animated series. In addition to his work in media and music, Freelon has an academic background that includes teaching in the departments of African, African American and Diaspora Studies and Music at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has also instructed in the Department of Political Science at North Carolina Central University. His involvement in arts and education extends to serving on the board of the North Carolina Arts Council.
