Phillips O’Brien: podcast appearances and interviews

Phillips Payson O'Brien, born in 1963, is an American historian and a professor of strategic studies at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. Previously, he was affiliated with the University of Glasgow, where he directed the Scottish Centre for War Studies. O'Brien's scholarly work includes the book How the War Was Won: Air-Sea Power and Allied Victory in World War II, published in 2015. In this work, he argues that superiority in air and sea power across a vast 'Air-Sea Super Battlefield' was decisive in determining the outcome of the conflict, emphasizing the importance of maritime and aerial dominance over land battles. He is also the author of The Second Most Powerful Man in the World: The Life of Admiral William D. Leahy, Roosevelt's Chief of Staff, published in 2019. This biography reevaluates Leahy’s life and influence, asserting that he played a more significant role than previously recognized.
