Peter Hayden Dinklage is an American actor born on June 11, 1969. He is known for his portrayal of Tyrion Lannister on the HBO television series Game of Thrones, a role for which he received the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series four times, as well as a Golden Globe Award in 2011 and an Actor Award in 2020. Born in the North Jersey region of New Jersey, Dinklage studied acting at Bennington College and performed in several amateur stage productions before making his film debut in the black comedy Living in Oblivion in 1995. His breakthrough came with the starring role in the 2003 comedy-drama The Station Agent. Dinklage has appeared in a variety of films including Elf, Lassie, The Baxter, Find Me Guilty, Penelope, Death at a Funeral, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, The Thicket, and Wicked. His filmography also features notable roles in Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War as Eitri, and in the biopic My Dinner with Hervé as Hervé Villechaize. He provided voice work for the video game Destiny and voiced Scourge in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts in 2023. Additionally, Dinklage starred in the television series Dexter: Resurrection in 2025 and has performed on stage, taking roles such as Richard III at the Public Theatre, Rakitin in A Month in the Country at Classic Stage Company, and Cyrano de Bergerac at the Daryl Roth Theatre.
