Peter Richard Boyle (October 18, 1935 – December 12, 2006) was an American actor known for his work in film and television as a character actor. During his career, he received several awards including a Primetime Emmy Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Boyle is notably recognized for his role as Frank Barone on the CBS sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond, which aired from 1996 to 2005. His portrayal of the patriarch earned him seven Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. Additionally, he won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Clyde Bruckman in the Fox science-fiction drama The X-Files in 1996.
