Peter Berkowitz, born in 1959, is an American political scientist and legal scholar. He currently holds the position of Tad and Dianne Taube Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. In addition to this role, he is the director of studies for The Public Interest Fellowship. From 2019 to 2021, Berkowitz served as the Director of Policy Planning at the United States Department of State. He is a member of the American Academy of Science and Letters and contributes as a columnist to RealClearPolitics. His work encompasses areas of political thought, policy analysis, and legal scholarship.
