Penelope Ann Miller is an American actress born on January 13, 1964. She began her career on Broadway, appearing in the original run of Biloxi Blues from 1985 to 1986, and later starred in the 1988 film adaptation. Miller was also featured in small roles in the comedies Adventures in Babysitting and Big Top Pee-wee. Her stage work earned her a Tony Award nomination for her leading role in the Broadway revival of Our Town during 1988 to 1989. She gained prominence through a series of significant film roles including The Freshman, Awakenings, and Kindergarten Cop in 1990, among others. Her performance as Gail in Carlito's Way in 1993 earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Her filmography includes titles such as Along Came a Spider, The Messengers, The Artist, The Birth of a Nation, and Reagan. On television, Miller has starred as Molly Hooper on the Fox sitcom A Minute with Stan Hooper, and has had recurring roles on Men of a Certain Age and Mistresses.
