Paul Watson: podcast appearances and interviews

Paul Franklin Watson is the founder and director of the National Innovation Centre for Data. A Canadian-American citizen, Watson has been involved in environmental activism since his teenage years. His early activism included participation in protests against nuclear testing and crewing on board Greenpeace ships. Although he was an early member of Greenpeace, he was ousted from the organization in 1977 due to disagreements over the use of direct action tactics. Following his departure from Greenpeace, Watson established the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, an organization focused on marine conservation activism through direct action. Watson promotes strategies aimed at defending marine life and ecosystems and is an advocate of biocentrism. His activism has led to numerous legal challenges in various countries; he has been detained and arrested multiple times but has not been convicted of a felony. Watson has also faced international extradition requests, notably from Japan and Costa Rica, with Interpol red notices issued in connection with these allegations. After periods of detention and exile, he currently resides in Paris, where he engages in writing, lecturing, and coordinating marine campaigns to oppose illegal whaling and deep-sea mining. He has established his own foundation, the Captain Paul Watson Foundation, following a separation from Sea Shepherd. His activities continue to draw international attention, and his efforts have contributed to ongoing discussions around marine conservation and activism.
