About Paul Gross

Paul Michael Gross, born on April 30, 1959, is a Canadian actor, film and television director, screenwriter, playwright, and producer. He is primarily known for his portrayal of RCMP Constable Benton Fraser on the television series Due South, which aired from 1994 to 1999. Gross received critical acclaim for his performances on the series, winning three Gemini Awards;two for acting and one for writing. He also achieved success with the Canadian television series Slings & Arrows and Republic of Doyle. In addition to his television work, Gross made his film directorial debut with the cult comedy Men with Brooms, which later developed into a television series. He wrote, directed, produced, and starred in the war film Passchendaele in 2008, which was awarded the Genie Award for Best Motion Picture. Recognized for his achievements within the industry, Gross received the Earle Grey Award for lifetime achievement at the 3rd Canadian Screen Awards in 2015. That same year, he was honored with the Order of Canada in recognition of his contributions to Canadian film and television as an actor, writer, and director.
