Patrick Charles Eugene Boone, born on June 1, 1934, is an American singer, songwriter, actor, author, television personality, radio host, and philanthropist. He was among the best-selling recording artists of the 1950s and early 1960s, selling nearly 50 million records and achieving 38 Top 40 hits in the United States. Boone was a prominent figure on the Billboard charts, charting for 220 consecutive weeks with one or more songs each week, and rivaled Elvis Presley in popularity during the 1950s. His contributions to music included cover versions of rhythm and blues songs that helped popularize rock and roll, and he was recognized as one of the top charting artists between 1955 and 1995.
