Pam Warren is a professional speaker and author known for her advocacy work following her severe injuries in the Ladbroke Grove rail crash in 1999. As a survivor of the incident, she sustained extensive burns over her face, hands, and legs, which required numerous reconstructive surgeries including over 23 operations. During her recovery, her doctors prescribed a clear perspex mask to minimize scars, which she wore for 18 months and earned her the nickname 'The Lady in the Mask' by the media. Her experience was documented in her memoir titled From Behind the Mask, which reflects on her life during and after the crash. Warren has been active as a spokesperson and advocate for railway safety, and she founded the Paddington Survivors Group to support fellow survivors. She has also played a significant role as an ambassador for The Scar Free Foundation, a charity dedicated to healing wounds without scarring. Additionally, she works with the Children's Burns Research Centre in the South West of England and the Sue Ryder Hospice in Nettlebed.
