Nick Davies, born on 28 March 1953, is a British investigative journalist, writer, and documentary maker. He has contributed extensively as a freelancer and to outlets such as The Guardian and The Observer. Throughout his career, Davies has received multiple awards including Reporter of the Year, Journalist of the Year, and Feature Writer of the Year at the British Press Awards. He is known for his investigative work on political and journalistic issues, authoring several books on these topics. His book Flat Earth News notably exposed malpractice within journalism in the UK and internationally, generating significant controversy. During his tenure at The Guardian, Davies played a key role in uncovering the News of the World phone hacking scandal. This investigation included revelations in July 2011 of the hacking into the voicemail of Milly Dowler, a murdered schoolgirl. Currently, Davies serves as the head of climate at The Cottage in the Wood.
