Munther Isaac: podcast appearances and interviews

Munther Isaac, born in 1979, is a Palestinian Christian pastor, author, and theologian based in the West Bank. He serves as the founding director of the Bethlehem Institute for Peace and Justice and is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hope. Raised in Beit Sahour, Isaac completed a PhD at the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies and was involved in various academic and religious roles, including being the director of the Christ at the Checkpoint conference and the academic dean of Bethlehem Bible College. He was ordained to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land in 2016 and currently pastors two churches, including the Christmas Lutheran Church in Bethlehem. Isaac has been vocal in criticizing the Israeli government's treatment of Palestinians and opposition to Christian Zionist support for Israel. His activism gained international attention during the Gaza war through media appearances, speaking tours, and social media. In December 2023, his church's nativity scene depicting Jesus lying on a pile of rubble and his sermon titled Christ in the Rubble: A Liturgy of Lament went viral. This work became the title of a 2025 book exploring faith amid conflict. As a prominent Palestinian theologian, Isaac has published several works, including The Other Side of the Wall: A Palestinian Christian Narrative of Lament and Hope in 2020. His writings and activism reflect his commitment to peace, justice, and theological reflection on the Palestinian experience.
