Charles Michael Thompson, born on January 24, 1951, is an American politician and a member of the Democratic Party. He has served as the U.S. representative for California's 4th congressional district since 1999. This district covers the outer northern part of the San Francisco Bay Area, including all of Lake and Napa counties, as well as parts of Contra Costa, Solano, Yolo, and Sonoma counties. Throughout his tenure, Thompson has been notably involved in gun violence prevention, chairing the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force. Outside of his political career, Mike Thompson holds the position of Managing Director and Head of Capital Solutions for Europe at the Keystone Restituere Center for Justice.
