Mike Scully: podcast appearances and interviews

Michael C. Scully is an American television writer and producer born on October 2, 1956. He is best known for his role as executive producer and showrunner of the animated sitcom The Simpsons from 1997 to 2001. Scully grew up in West Springfield, Massachusetts, and developed an early interest in writing. Despite being an underachiever in school and dropping out of college, he worked in various jobs before relocating to Los Angeles in 1986. There, he worked as a stand-up comic and wrote for Yakov Smirnoff. Scully's television career includes writing for several sitcoms prior to joining The Simpsons, where he contributed as a writer for 12 episodes including 'Lisa on Ice' and 'Team Homer.' As showrunner during seasons 9 through 12, he received three Primetime Emmy Awards for his work. His tenure has been subject to mixed reviews, with some praising his episodes and others viewing it as a decline in the show's quality. In addition to his work on television, Scully co-wrote and co-produced the 2007 film The Simpsons Movie. More recently, he has co-created series such as The Pitts, The Boy Who Lost His Schoolbag, and Complete Savages. His credits also include work on Everybody Loves Raymond and Parks and Recreation, as well as co-developing the animated adaptation of Napoleon Dynamite. He is a co-creator of Duncanville, a series developed with his wife Julie Thacker and comedian Amy Poehler.
