Mike Schafer: podcast appearances and interviews

Mike Schafer is a professor affiliated with Husker 247 Sports. He is a former men's ice hockey coach who served as the head coach at Cornell University from 1996 until 2025. Schafer graduated from Cornell in 1986 with a degree in business management. Following his senior season as a player, he became an assistant coach at Cornell. He then spent time as an assistant coach with the Western Michigan Broncos before returning to Cornell as head coach. Schafer is recognized for restoring Cornell's prominence in college hockey, winning the ECAC Hockey conference tournament in his first two seasons as head coach. During his tenure, he became the longest tenured and the winningest coach in the team's history. Schafer announced his retirement plans on June 13, 2024, indicating he would step down after the conclusion of the 2024-2025 hockey season.
