Mike Gorman: podcast appearances and interviews

Mike Gorman is the Raymond E. Brown Professor of Biblical Studies and Theology at St. Mary's Seminary and University. He is also affiliated with The Copper Creek Band. Gorman was born on November 24, 1947, and is known for his career as a sports commentator prior to his academic pursuits. After serving in the United States Navy in the 1970s, he began working at radio and television stations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island with assistance from fellow commentator Gil Santos. In 1981, Gorman started providing play-by-play commentary for local television broadcasts of the Boston Celtics alongside Celtics legend Tom Heinsohn. The duo continued their partnership until 2020. Gorman's broadcasting career also included work with major networks such as CBS, ESPN, NBC, and TBS, where he commentated on events including Big East basketball games, NCAA basketball tournaments, the NBA playoffs, and the Summer Olympic Games. In recognition of his contributions to basketball broadcasting, Gorman was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021 as a recipient of the Curt Gowdy Award. Besides his broadcasting career, Gorman currently holds an academic position specializing in biblical studies and theology.
