Mike Flynn: podcast appearances and interviews

Mike Flynn is the corporate safety director at Barnard Construction Company. He has a background as a transportation consultant and educator, with experience working in urban planning and transportation. Flynn previously served as director of capital planning and project management at the New York City Department of Transportation until 2014. He began his career at the NYCDOT in 2005, after initially working as an intern for the agency. Flynn also led the New York office for TYLin City Solutions, a private transportation consultancy, where he focused on urban planning and sustainable design. He taught courses on urban planning, transportation, and sustainable design at the Pratt Institute for eight years. Flynn holds a degree from the University of Vermont and earned a master's in city and regional planning from the Pratt Institute. His master's thesis examined the public perception of congestion pricing, during which he interviewed Sam Schwartz, his future boss. Flynn was born on Staten Island and raised in Glen Rock, New Jersey. His father once worked as a bike messenger and cab driver, and his grandfather was a train dispatcher at Queensboro Plaza station.
