Mickey Guyton: podcast appearances and interviews

Candace Mycale Mickey Guyton is an American singer and songwriter born on June 17, 1983. She was raised in Texas and was exposed to various musical styles at a young age, incorporating elements of contemporary country, pop, and R&B into her work. In 2011, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee, and signed with Capitol Records Nashville. Her debut extended play, Unbreakable, was released in 2015, the same year her debut single Better Than You Left Me reached number 34 on the US Country Airplay chart and earned her an Academy of Country Music Award nomination. Her second self-titled EP was also released that year. In 2020, Guyton released the single Black Like Me, which addresses her experiences as a Black woman in country music and contributed to her first Grammy Award nomination in the Best Country Solo Performance category. Later that year, she released her third extended play Bridges. She collaborated with Dean Brody on the song Boys, making her the first Black woman to secure a number one hit on the Canada Country chart. Her debut album Remember Her Name was released in 2021. She has performed the national anthem at notable events, including Game 5 of the 2026 NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs.
