About Melissa Lane
Melissa Lane is an American academic and a professor at Princeton University, where she holds the Class of 1943 professorship in the Department of Politics. She earned her undergraduate degree in Social Studies from Harvard University, graduating summa cum laude in 1989. She continued her studies at the University of Cambridge, obtaining an MPhil and a PhD in Philosophy, and also served as a lecturer there. Lane joined Princeton's faculty in 2009 and is recognized as a political theorist specializing in ancient Greek political thought and its relevance to modern issues. Throughout her career, she has received numerous honors, including a Marshall Scholarship, Truman Scholarship, Guggenheim Fellowship in 2012, and the Phi Beta Kappa Teaching Prize in 2015.
