Melanie Challenger: podcast appearances and interviews

Melanie Challenger is a writer, researcher, and broadcaster specializing in environmental history and the philosophy of science. She has served as Deputy Co-Chair of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics and is a Vice President of the RSPCA in the United Kingdom. Challenger is the author of the 2021 book How to Be Animal: What it Means to Be Human. Her earlier work includes the 2011 non-fiction publication On Extinction: How We Became Estranged from Nature, which was recognized by Publishers Weekly as one of the best non-fiction books of 2012 and was awarded the Santa Barbara Library's Green Award for environmental writing. She is a member of CEP, a global collective of environmental philosophers, and a founding member of the Animals in the Room project, which focuses on developing new models for representing the interests of non-human animals in decision-making processes critical to their lives.
