Robert Rihmeek Williams, known professionally as Meek Mill, is an American rapper born on May 6, 1987, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He began his career as a battle rapper and was a member of the short-lived rap group the Bloodhoundz. In 2008, he signed with T.I.'s Grand Hustle Records as a solo artist but left the label in 2011 without releasing any music. Later that year, he signed with Rick Ross's Maybach Music Group and gained recognition through appearances on the label's Self Made Vol. 1 compilation album. His song 'Tupac Back,' featuring Rick Ross, served as the album's lead single, and his follow-up track 'Ima Boss,' also with Rick Ross, became his first Billboard Hot 100 entry. Meek Mill's debut studio album, Dreams and Nightmares, was released in 2012 through a joint venture with MMG and Warner Bros. Records, reaching number two on the Billboard 200. His subsequent albums include Dreams Worth More Than Money, which debuted at number one, Wins & Losses, peaking at number three, and Championships, which again topped the chart. His fifth album, Expensive Pain, released in 2021, also reached number three on the Billboard 200. In addition to his solo work, he released a collaborative album with Rick Ross titled Too Good to Be True in 2023. Meek Mill founded the record label Dream Chasers Records in 2012, signing artists such as Yung Bleu, Vory, and Lil Snupe. His career has been marked by legal challenges, including a 2017 prison sentence for violating parole, which was later overturned. He co-founded the nonprofit Reform Alliance with Jay-Z to advocate for prison reform, and a documentary series about his legal battle, Free Meek, was released in 2019.
