Max Hollein is an Austrian art historian and the current CEO and Director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. He assumed this role after serving as the Director and CEO of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco from July 2016 until April 2018. During his tenure there, he oversaw both the de Young Museum and the Legion of Honor, which together attracted 1.4 million visitors in 2016, making them the seventh most-visited art institutions in the United States.
