Matthew Parker was an English bishop who served as the Archbishop of Canterbury in the Church of England from 1559 until his death in 1575. He was an influential theologian and is considered by some to be a co-founder of a distinctive tradition within Anglican theological thought, alongside Thomas Cranmer and Richard Hooker. Parker was one of the primary architects of the Thirty-nine Articles, which are the defining statements of Anglican doctrine.
