Matt Pottinger: podcast appearances and interviews

Matthew Forbes Pottinger, born in 1973, is an American who has worked as a journalist and served as a United States Marine Corps officer. He held the position of deputy national security adviser from September 22, 2019, until January 7, 2021. Prior to this role, Pottinger was the Asia senior director on the National Security Council starting in 2017, a tenure notable for its length amid an administration characterized by high staff turnover. During his time in government, he contributed to the development of the Trump administration's policies towards China. Pottinger resigned on January 6, 2021, in response to the attack on the United States Capitol, and left the White House the following day. Currently, he serves as Chairman of the China Program at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, is the CEO of Garnaut Global;an advisory firm focused on geopolitics;and holds the position of Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Hoover Institution.
