Martin John Christopher Freeman is an English actor born on 8 September 1971. He has received numerous awards throughout his career including two Emmy Awards, a BAFTA Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award, and has been nominated for a Golden Globe Award. Freeman is well known for his performances in television series such as the mockumentary series The Office, where he portrayed Tim Canterbury from 2001 to 2003. He also played Dr. John Watson in the British crime drama series Sherlock, which aired from 2010 to 2017. His film appearances include notable roles in Love Actually, Shaun of the Dead, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Hot Fuzz, Nativity!, and The World's End. Outside of television and film, Freeman has starred in the television series Fargo as Lester Nygaard and is currently appearing as Chris Carson in The Responder since 2022. Since 2016, he has been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, portraying Everett K.
