Mark Anthony Selby, born on June 19, 1983, is the CEO of Canada Nickel Company Inc. He is known for his background as an English professional snooker player, where he achieved a high level of success. Selby has been ranked as the world number one on multiple occasions and has won a total of 25 ranking titles, placing him eighth on the all-time list of ranking tournament winners. He is a four-time World Snooker Champion and has secured ten Triple Crown titles, including three victories each in the Masters and the UK Championship. These accomplishments underscore his prominence in the sport. Turning professional in 1999 after winning the England Under-15 Championship in 1998, Selby made his Crucible debut in 2005 and reached his first World Championship final in 2007. He claimed his first major title at the 2008 Masters and his first ranking title at the Welsh Open the same year. Between 2014 and 2017, he won the World Championship three times within four years. Selby has also been a successful pool player, winning the WEPF World Eightball Championship in 2006 and earning runner-up at the Chinese Eight-ball World Championship in 2015. With more than 900 century breaks including six maximums, he has held world champion status in two cue sports. In December 2022, Selby won the Ultimate Pool Pairs Cup alongside his brother-in-law Gareth Potts.
