Mark Meadows: podcast appearances and interviews
Former North Carolina Congressman and Trump Chief of Staff
About Mark Meadows
Mark Randall Meadows, born on July 28, 1959, is an American politician who served as the 29th White House chief of staff from 2020 to 2021 under the Trump administration. A member of the Republican Party, he previously served as the U.S. representative for North Carolina's 11th congressional district from 2013 to 2020. During his time in Congress, Meadows was a founding member of the Freedom Caucus and served as its chair from 2017 to 2019. He was known for his conservative views and was considered one of Donald Trump’s closest allies in the House of Representatives prior to his appointment as chief of staff. Meadows played a significant role in legislative actions such as the United States federal government shutdown of 2013 and sought to influence leadership decisions, including efforts to remove John Boehner as Speaker of the House. After resigning from Congress in March 2020, he took on the role of White House chief of staff, where he was involved in the Trump administration’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. His actions included pressuring the Food and Drug Administration to adopt less strict guidelines for vaccine trials and managing internal communications regarding the pandemic amidst outbreaks in the White House. After the 2020 presidential election, Meadows participated in efforts to overturn the election results. He faced legal challenges including a contempt of Congress charge for refusing to cooperate with the January 6 Select Committee, which was later declined for prosecution by the Justice Department. Additionally, he has been ordered to testify before a Georgia grand jury investigating efforts to influence the 2020 election results in Georgia. He was indicted in Georgia and Arizona on charges related to election interference and efforts to subvert the 2020 presidential election. In November 2025, he was pardoned by Donald Trump; however, this pardon does not affect state charges.
