About Mark Bosnich

Mark John Bosnich, born on 13 January 1972, is an Australian former professional soccer player and sports pundit. He played as a goalkeeper and had a prominent career in England and Australia. Bosnich joined Manchester United in 1989 but returned to Australia due to limited first-team opportunities and visa issues. He later transferred to Aston Villa in 1990, where he established himself as one of the leading goalkeepers in the Premier League during the 1990s. In 1999, Manchester United re-signed him as a replacement for Peter Schmeichel, but injuries and limited playing time affected his form. He moved to Chelsea in 2001, continuing to struggle with injuries and playing opportunities. In September 2002, he was released by Chelsea and received a nine-month ban from football after testing positive for cocaine. Bosnich subsequently developed an addiction to the drug and spent six years in exile. He trained for a comeback in 2007, returning to professional football in Australia the following year. Over his international career, he represented Australia 17 times and scored one goal for his nation. Beyond his playing career, Bosnich has been a co-host of Bill & Boz on Fox Sports News. His career included playing for clubs such as Sydney United, Central Coast Mariners, and Sydney Olympic before retiring in 2009.
