Mario R. García, born on February 15, 1947, in Placetas, Las Villas, Cuba, is a Cuban-American newspaper and magazine designer and media consultant. He emigrated from Cuba to the United States on February 28, 1962, as one of the Pedro Pans, a group of 14,000 refugee children who arrived in the United States shortly after the Castro Revolution. García has established a distinguished career in media design and consulting, contributing to the evolution of news presentation and layout. He serves as a senior adviser on news design and is also an adjunct professor at Columbia University School of Journalism. During the 2013–14 academic year, he was recognized as the Hearst Digital Media Professional-in-Residence, reflecting his influence and expertise in digital media. Throughout his career, García has been known for his innovative approach to media aesthetics and his efforts to improve visual communication in journalism.
