Marilu Henner was born on April 6, 1952. She is an American actress, singer, and author with a career spanning several decades. Henner began her performing career in 1971, appearing in the original production of the musical Grease. She made her film debut in 1977 with the comedy-drama film Between the Lines. Her breakthrough role came in 1978 when she was cast as Elaine O'Connor Nardo in the television series Taxi, which aired on ABC and NBC. She played this role until 1983 and was nominated for five Golden Globe Awards for her performance. Henner has also appeared in a variety of films including Hammett, The Man Who Loved Women, Cannonball Run II, Johnny Dangerously, Rustlers' Rhapsody, Ladykillers, L.A. Story, and Noises Off.
