Maria Bamford: podcast appearances and interviews

Maria Bamford is an American actress and stand-up comedian born on September 3, 1970. Her comedy often addresses self-deprecating and dark topics, including her experiences with dysfunctional family dynamics, depression, anxiety, suicide, and mental illness. Bamford's early work includes her first comedy album and tour, The Burning Bridges Tour, launched in 2003, and she has since released eight additional albums and specials. She made her feature film debut in Lucky Numbers in 2000 and has voiced characters in numerous animated shows such as Mixels, CatDog, American Dad!, Ugly Americans, Adventure Time, and BoJack Horseman. Bamford's filmography includes roles in Stuart Little 2, Charlotte's Web 2: Wilbur's Great Adventure, Barnyard, Heckler, and Hell and Back. She also voiced Talking Ginger and Talking Becca in the Talking Tom & Friends web series. Her television work began with appearances on Louie in 2012 and includes roles in Arrested Development, WordGirl, Big Mouth, Flatbush Misdemeanors, and Human Resources. In 2014, she received the American Comedy Award for Best Club Comic. Bamford stars in the 2016 Netflix series Lady Dynamite, which is based on her life. In 2023, she published a memoir titled Sure, I'll Join Your Cult. Her life and career are also the subject of the upcoming 2026 documentary Paralyzed by Hope: The Maria Bamford Story.
