Marc Márquez Alentà is a Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle road racer born on February 17, 1993. He currently races for the Ducati Lenovo Team in MotoGP and previously competed for Honda's factory team from 2013 to 2023, before joining the Ducati satellite team Gresini in 2024. Considered one of the greatest motorcycle racers of all time, Márquez has secured nine Grand Prix World Championships, including seven in the MotoGP category. He won the 125cc World Championship in 2010 and the Moto2 World Championship in 2012 as a teenager. Márquez entered MotoGP in 2013 with Repsol Honda and claimed the title in his rookie season, becoming the first to do so since 1978 and the youngest overall at 20 years and 266 days. His performances earned him the Laureus World Sports Award for Breakthrough of the Year. He defended his MotoGP title successfully in 2014, winning the first ten races of the season consecutively, but faced setbacks in 2015 due to crashes and a notable feud with Valentino Rossi. Márquez went on to win four consecutive championships from 2016 to 2019, including becoming the youngest to claim his seventh and eighth titles. Injuries in 2020 and 2021 hampered his racing, but he underwent successful surgeries and returned strongly in 2022. After switching teams in 2024, he achieved a resurgence by winning three races after a lengthy drought and securing a third-place finish in that season's standings. In 2025, he dominated the championship on a factory Ducati bike but suffered injuries that required additional surgeries, impacting his seasons in subsequent years.
