Luke August Kuechly is a former professional American football linebacker who played in the National Football League for the Carolina Panthers over an eight-season career. Born on April 20, 1991, Kuechly was a prominent college football player at Boston College, where he earned consensus All-American honors twice. He was drafted ninth overall by the Panthers in the 2012 NFL draft and made an immediate impact, leading the league in tackles during his rookie season and receiving the Associated Press NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award, making him the third youngest recipient in history. In 2013, Kuechly became the youngest player to be awarded the AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award.
