Luis Francisco Perez, born on August 26, 1994, is an American professional football quarterback affiliated with the Arlington Renegades of the United Football League. He played college football for the Texas A&M–Commerce Lions from 2015 to 2017 and previously competed at the junior college level for the Southwestern Jaguars. Perez received the Harlon Hill Trophy in 2017, awarded to the best player in NCAA Division II, and led the Lions to their second national championship in football during that season, their first since 1972. Although he was not drafted in the 2018 NFL Draft, he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Los Angeles Rams. Throughout his career, Perez has played in various leagues including the Alliance of American Football, the XFL in 2020 and 2023, and the United States Football League in 2022. He is recognized as the longest-tenured spring football quarterback who has never started an NFL game and is considered one of the greatest players in spring football history. Perez is notably celebrated for winning the 2023 XFL Championship with the Arlington Renegades. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the Championship Game after leading the Renegades to a 35–26 victory over the D.C. Defenders.
