Louise Archer: podcast appearances and interviews

Louise Archer, born in 1973 and known professionally as Louise Archer, is the Karl Mannheim Professor of Sociology of Education at University College London Institute of Education. Her academic work focuses on the sociology of education, and she has made significant contributions to higher education and research. Archer played a key role in the development of the Athena SWAN Charter, established in 2005, which is a framework and accreditation scheme aimed at promoting gender equality in UK higher education and research institutions. In recognition of her contributions to social sciences, she was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in October 2017 and became a Fellow of the British Academy in 2023. She is the daughter of Professor John Archer, an engineer and former Vice-Chancellor and Principal of Heriot-Watt University, serving from 1997 to 2006.
