Lloyd Llewellyn-Jones: podcast appearances and interviews

Lloyd Llewellyn-Jones is a Welsh professor of ancient history with a specialization in ancient Iran, particularly the Achaemenid period from 550 to 330 BC. He previously focused on the study of ancient Greece and has held academic positions at the University of Edinburgh and Cardiff University. Since 2016, he has served as the Chair of Ancient History at Cardiff University. Prior to that, he was a professor of Ancient Greek and Iranian Studies at the University of Edinburgh, where he was appointed in 2015. Llewellyn-Jones is also the director of the Ancient Iran Program, a position he holds at the instigation of the British Institute of Persian Studies. His work includes contributing to various publications such as BBC History, History Today, and World History, and he has authored numerous monographs and books, as well as edited and co-edited several works. Since 2025, he has co-hosted the Biblical Time Machine podcast with biblical scholar Helen Bond, discussing the social and political history of the Bible and related texts from Judaism and Early Christianity.
