Lisa Harvey-Smith: podcast appearances and interviews

Lisa Harvey-Smith is a British-Australian astrophysicist, author, television presenter, and Professor of Practice at the University of New South Wales. Her research focuses on the origin and evolution of cosmic magnetism, supernova remnants, the interstellar medium, massive star formation, and astrophysical masers. She spent nearly ten years as a research scientist at Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, where she held roles such as Project Scientist for the Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder and the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder Telescope. Harvey-Smith served as the Australian Government’s Women in STEM Ambassador from 2018 to 2024, advising on gender equity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, and leading national programs to promote inclusion in STEM fields. In addition to her scientific career, she has authored seven non-fiction books aimed at both adult and young audiences. Her notable works include the award-winning “Under the Stars: Astrophysics for Bedtime,” which was recognized as the best education title at the Singapore Book Awards and shortlisted for various other awards.
