Lidia Thorpe: podcast appearances and interviews

Lidia Alma Thorpe is an Australian politician serving as an independent senator for Victoria since 2020. She is notably the first Aboriginal senator from Victoria. Thorpe was a member of the Australian Greens until February 2023, when she resigned from the party due to disagreements concerning the proposed Indigenous Voice to Parliament. Subsequently, she became a prominent figure in the 'progressive No' campaign opposing the Voice referendum in October 2023. She previously served as the Greens' deputy leader in the Senate from June to October 2022. Before her federal tenure, Thorpe was a member of the Victorian Parliament. She was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly as the member for Northcote in the 2017 by-election, becoming the first known Aboriginal woman elected to that parliament. Her political career has been marked by advocacy for the Indigenous sovereignty movement and criticism of Australian political institutions, which she views as rooted in colonialism.
